Cyril E. King Airport Rental Car Pickup Guide
From baggage claim to the driver's seat — the step-by-step process at St. Thomas Airport.
Cyril E. King Airport (STT) is compact and efficient. Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car, and National Car Rental operate from an off-terminal rental-car center, and a complimentary shuttle transports customers between the terminal and the facility — so knowing each step in advance helps you collect your vehicle quickly.
Procedures may change. Always confirm current pickup instructions, shuttle details, and counter hours on your specific reservation before you travel.
1. Collect your luggage
After clearing customs (for international arrivals) or deplaning, proceed to baggage claim and collect your bags. The terminal is small, so wayfinding is straightforward.
2. Exit baggage claim
With your luggage in hand, exit the baggage claim area through the main terminal doors. Look for signage directing you to the rental car shuttle and representative meeting points.
3. Locate the rental representative and shuttle instructions
A rental representative or clearly marked shuttle stop is located near the terminal exit. Follow the posted instructions for your brand (Enterprise, Alamo, or National). If you cannot locate the shuttle, check the rental counter or contact the number on your reservation.
4. Take the complimentary shuttle to the rental facility
A complimentary shuttle transports you from the terminal to the off-terminal rental facility, where the Enterprise, Alamo, and National counters and ready lot are located. The ride is short — typically just a few minutes.
5. Complete the rental agreement and collect the vehicle
At the counter, present your driver's license, a major credit card in the renter's name, and your confirmation. Staff will finalize your agreement, review optional add-ons, and direct you to your vehicle.
Before driving off, inspect the vehicle with an attendant, note any pre-existing damage, confirm the fuel level, and adjust mirrors and seats. Remember: in the USVI, you drive on the left.
What to bring to the counter
- Valid driver's license (held for at least one year)
- Major credit card in the renter's name (debit cards are not accepted)
- Your reservation confirmation number
- Passport for international travelers
Returning your vehicle
Vehicles must generally be returned to the rental location shown on your rental agreement. Follow the "Rental Car Return" signs as you approach the airport, and allow at least 90 minutes before your flight. Fill the fuel tank before returning to avoid refueling fees.
Shuttle transportation back to the airport is available during operating hours. After-hours return is typically available — park, lock, and use the key drop box.
